A research group has succeeded in fabricating an atomically thin, high-temperature superconductor film with a superconducting transition temperature (Tc) of up to 60 K (°C). The team also. Thin films of niobium nitride with high superconducting temperature (T c) of ° K. are deposited on substrates held at room temperature (˜90° C.) by heat sink throughout the sputtering process. Films deposited at P Ar >± mTorr exhibit higher T c with increasing P N2,I, with the highest T c achieved at P N2,I =± mTorr and total sputtering pressure P tot =± Work at NRL on high T c thin superconducting films will be reviewed. We will show how changing the preparation conditions controls the morphology and superconducting properties of these films, thus films can be tailored for a particular device application. Emphasis will be placed on the properties of Bl structure NbN x C 1−x films. Devices that these films are particularly suited for are.   Superconducting spiral metamaterials operating near 75 MHz have been developed with Nb thin films, and show strong tunability as the transition temperature is approached. Such metamaterials may be useful for magnetic resonance imaging,near-field imaging, and compact RF resonator applications. * Superconducting Photonic Crystals. In conductive ceramics: Superconductors ceramic conductors are the so-called high T c superconductors, materials that lose their resistance at much higher critical temperatures than their metal alloy counterparts. Most high T c ceramics are layered structures, with two-dimensional copper-oxygen sheets along which superconduction takes place. The first of these was discovered in by the. In this talk, we address the major criteria that must be met to enable us to achieve this technology at 77K with high-T c superconducting thin films. For both the SQUID and the input coil, we require (i) films with T c well above 77K, (ii) the ability to pattern these films, and (iii) low levels of 1/f flux noise.
